ஆறுபருவம், the six seasons of the year which are 1. கார், August & September, 2. கூதிர், October & November; 3. முன்பனி, December & January; 4. பின்பனி, February & March; 5. இளவேனில், April & May; 6. முதிர்வேனில், June & July. பருவத்திலே செய்ய, to do a thing in seasonable time. பருவத்தே பயிர்செய், (lit. cultivate in the proper season); "strike the iron while it is hot" "make hay while the sun shines". பருவத்திலே பிள்ளைபெற, to bring forth a child at the proper time. பருவ மழை, seasonable rain. பருவமான பெண், a young woman grown marriageable. ஆடவர் பருவம், the six stages of life in males:- பாலன் (under five years), காளை (5 to 16 years), குமாரன் or விடலை (16 to 32 years), ஆடவன் or மன்னன் (32 to 48 years), மூத்தோன் or ஆடவவிருத்தன் (48 to 64 years) & விருத்தன் (above 64 years). மகளிர் பருவம்:- I. four stages:- வாலை up to the age of maturity, தருணி, a young woman, பிரவிடை, பிரௌடை, a middle-aged woman & விருத்தை, an old woman. II. seven stages:- பேதை (5 to 7 years), பெதும்பை (8 to 11 years), மங்கை (12 to 13 years); மடந்தை (14 to 19 years), அரிவை (2 to 25 years), தெரிவை (26 to 31 years) & பேரிளம்பெண் (32 to 4 years). பருவம் பார்க்க, to think how to act; 2. to seek opportunity.
மங்கை -
s. a woman, பெண்; 2. a young girl of 12 or 13 years.
மங்கை பங்கன், -பங்காளன், -பாகன், Siva as half female, அர்த்தநாரீசுரன்.
