தாழ்த்து - Thaazhththu
III. v. t. bring low, lower, depress, deepen, தாழச்செய்; 2. abase, degrade, அடக்கு; 3. humble, கீழ்ப் படுத்து; 4. spend or while away time.
தாழ்த்திப் பிடிக்க, to hold down. காலந்தாழ்த்த, to while away time, to delay.
சுருக்கம் - Surukkam
s. (சுருங்கு) brevity, shortness, சங்கிரகம்; 2. abbreviation, abridgment, compendium, அடக்கம்; 3. contraction, decrease, குறைவு; 4. a plait or small fold in a garment, சுருக்கு; 5. miserliness, உலோபம்.
சுருக்கத்திலே பிடிக்க, to retrench, to make short work of a thing. சுருக்கமான வழி, a short road, a short or concise method. சுருக்கமாயிருக்க, to be small, to be in plaits.
அற்பம் - Arpam
s. (அல்பம்) smallness, சிறுமை; 2. a trifle inferiority, இழிவு; 3. dog, நாய்.
அற்பக்காரியம், a small insignificant matter, a trifle. அற்பசங்கை, அற்பாசமனம், passing urine. அற்பசொற்பம், insignificant thing (colloq.) அற்பாயுசு, short life. அற்பப் புத்தி, little sense, folly, mean disposition. அற்பமாய் எண்ண, to despise, slight. அற்பழுக்கில்லாத மனசு, a heart void of guile. அற்பன், a mean worthless man. "அற்பனுக்குப் பவிஷு வந்தால் அர்த்த ராத்திரியில் குடை பிடிப்பான்" Proverb. "The higher the ape goes, the more he shows his tail."
