ஊண் -
s. (உண்) food, உணவு; 2. food of birds and beasts, இரை; 3. boiled rice; 4. experience of joys and sorrows by the soul, as the unavoidable fruits of Karma.
ஊணன், (fem. ஊணி) a glutton. ஊணுக்கிருக்க, to sit down to eat. ஊணுக்கிருக்கச் சொல்ல, to invite to a meal. ஊணுறக்கமில்லாதவன், a person who neither eats nor sleeps. ஊண்பாக்கு, betel-nut taken after dinner or supper, opp. to வீண் பாக்கு, betel taken at any other time.
