கும்பிடு - Kumpidu
IV. v. t. respect or worship by joining and lifting up the hands, reverence, adore, வணங்கு; 2. beg, solicit, கெஞ்சு.
கும்பிடப்போன தெய்வம் குறுக்கே வந்தது, I met the god whom I was going to worship. கையெடுத்துக்கும்பிட, to worship or to do obeisance by raising the joined hands. கும்பிடு, கும்பீடு, கும்பிடல், v. n. reverence, worship. கும்பிடுகள்ளன், a hypocritical worshipper. கும்பிடுபூச்சி, an insect with feelers resembling hands lifted up, mantis. கும்பிடுபோட, to venerate.
கெஞ்சு -
III. v. t. beg humbly, supplicate, crave, solicit, மன்றாடு.
கெஞ்சப்பண்ண, -அடிக்க, to detain and vex a person for a long time before anything is given; to make a person beg humbly. கெஞ்சல், கெஞ்சுதல், v. n. begging, beseeching, entreaty. கெஞ்சிக் கேட்க, to beg, to supplicate, to crave. கெஞ்சிக்கொண்டு திரிய, to go abegging. கெஞ்சிவாங்க, to receive by begging. பல்லைக்காட்டிக் கெஞ்ச, to beg hard showing the teeth.
