சொரி -
II. v. i. flow down, pour, shower down (as rain from the clouds, tears from the eyes etc.), drop down, be spilled (as grain), சிந்து; 2. be copious, மிகு; v. t. shoot down (as corn from a sack or as sand from a cart), கொட்டு; 2. scatter, effuse, emit, pour forth, பொழி; 3. give bountifully, ஈ; 4. speak fluently, sing freely a succession of tunes. 5. improp. for சொரி), itch.
அம்பு மாரியைச் சொரித்தான், he poured forth a shower of arrows. சொரிந்தளக்க, to measure lightly by pouring slowly into the measure. சொரி சொரியென்று சொரிந்துவிட் டான், he gave profusely in money, food etc; 2. he spoke or song very fluently. சொரி வராகன், loose pagodas not tied up in a bag. சொரிவு, v. n. flowing or pouring down, abundance, profusion, bountiful giving. புஷ்பம் சொரிய, பூச்சொரிய, to scatter flowers before a great person or in worship.
