சகுனம் - Sagunam
s. a bird in general, பறவை; 2. an omen, நிமித்தம்; 3. (astrol.) a division of time.
சகுன சாஸ்திரம், augury. சகுனத்தடை, --ப்பிழை, a bad omen. சகுனத்தடையாக, to meet with a bad sign or omen. சகுனம் பார்க்க, to practise augury, to observe omens. அப (துர்ச்) சகுனம், a bad sign or omen. சுப (நற்) சகுனம், a good sign or omen.

VI v. t. hinder, stop, forbid, தடை செய்; 2. arrest by authority, witchcraft etc., 3. check, prevent, restrain, அடக்கு; 4. make a partition wall to a room or any other place; 5. forbid, as an ill omen; 6. block up, dam, அடை.

தவிரு, II. v. i. & t. abstain from, நீங்கு; 2. shun, avoid, விலகு; 3. be excluded, avoided, omitted, கழி; 4. cease, ஒழி; 5. be hindered, frustrated. தடைபடு; 6. subside, abate, தணி; 7. desist, forbear, discontinue, விடு. தவிர, adv. (inf.) except, besides.
அவள் தவிர, அவனைத் தவிர, besides him, without him, him excepted. அது (அதைத்) தவிர, except that. அதுவுந் தவிர; besides that, moreover. தவிர்வு, v. n. abstaining from, avoiding; 2. exception, omission; 3. relinquishment; 4. cessation, ஒழி தல்; 5. excluding, அகற்றுதல்.
