கதை - Kathai
s. a story, an anecdote afiction, கட்டுக்கதை; 2. a tale, a fable, a talk, chitchat, சம்பாஷணை; 3. club, தடி, தண்டம்; 4. message, சொல்; 5. manner, விதம்.
கதாநாயகன், (fem. கதாநாயகி), the hero of a story (fem. heroine). கதாப்பிரசங்கம், telling stories in public with remarks and explanations; loquaciousness. கதாமஞ்சரி, a series of stories and fables. கதாயுதம், a club or mace. கதாயுதன், Bheema, the second of the Pandavas. கதை கட்ட, --கோக்க, to invent a story, tattle, babble. கதை பேச, to chat, to talk away the time. கதை வளர்க்க, to prolong a story or conversation; to cavil. கிளைக்கதை, a digression in a fable; an episode. புண்ணியக் கதை, a religious story or fable.
